Many of the collages pictured here serve as maquettes to the group of paintings entitled Consumer Theatre.  This is where the compositions, texture, and colour relationships are planned, although the collage and paintings share commonalities the paintings develop their own movement, texture and further the dialogue of abstraction vs. realism during their execution.  The play of the background and foreground is important to the compositions to emphasize the objects of consumer goods as characters on a stage in dialogue with the viewer and each other.

Watercolour

After some time working through the concepts of Consumer Theatre the characters or stage actors began to have their own lives and personalities, so it was only natural that they would move out into a wider world, into the landscape.  The watercolours highlight some of these characters adventures.
